The Market Theatre continues to build on its growing reputation for destroying beautiful children’s stories for the sake of a cheap laugh. Now, for better or for worse, they have arrived at our theatre.
Beauty and the Beast is the latest Fairytale to fall victim to their corny and scathing wit. This traditional tale is set in a Scottish castle on the banks of Loch Ness, (the original of course wasn’t) and reaches the same dizzy comical heights as their previous shows. Full of sexual innuendo, mistaken identity, sexual innuendo, confusion, sexual innuendo and silly gags, the show climaxes in a farcical run-around!
Whether you have witnessed productions, such as Emperor’s Newd Clothes, Puss and Dick, Slapper Beauty or not, this is a must for a seasonal outing. The show aims specifically at those who wouldn’t normally go to theatre, so that they won’t fully realise how terribly over the top the acting is! Shakespeare it is not, but a fantastically funny night out it is!
Please be aware that this show does contain a large amount of cleavage, the occasional swear word and a very badly built monster!
