A Night Less Ordinary

Posted: 18 February 2009

A Night Less Ordinary was launched on Tuesday 17th February with the help of the extraordinary talents of The Chinese State Circus who shared their impressive skills in an interactive workshop. Participants between the ages of 5 and 23 including DJ Phil Dave from 91.8 Hayes FM all enjoyed learning how to spin plates, juggle hats and balance diablos, with some being more successful than others!  There was also an opportunity to meet the Shaolin Warriors and join in with their martial arts practice.

The Chinese State Circus
bring an action-packed 2 hour production full of world class acrobatics and martial arts.  The Shaolin Warriors are joined on stage by The Tai An Acrobatic Troupe from the foot of Mount Tai – one of China’s most sacred mountains, and the performance is narrated by one of the most famous characters in Chinese Folklore - The Monkey King.

Our event also featured free backstage tours and further information on our Summer Project, The Friends of the Beck scheme, Volunteering and the Beck Youth Theatre (BYT).

A Night Less Ordinary is the Arts Council England’s free ticket initiative for under 26 year olds. For further information please go to www.anightlessordinary.org.uk
